If you've seen the original it's not worth your time, if you're unaware of the original then it's worth a watch, although be warned, this one is missing the crazy hillbilly kung fu kid which was a highlight of the original!įive college friends head up to a remote cabin in the woods for a weekend of sun-drenched fun, sex and booze, however they are disrupted by an unwelcome guest with a rotting skin virus, they decide to get rid of him unwittingly end up contaminating the water supply, the five friends slowly become contaminated and the violence escalates as they will do anything to survive. Copying the original scene by scene makes no sense, especially when the original was only released 15 years ago. There is no new spin on the story, you could probably watch them both side by side and notice very little difference which begs the question, why? Remakes are only good if the director has put a completely new spin on the story, shot it from a different perspective or made significant changes. The eccentric characters and the stomach churning body horror are all still present, there have been a few character changes and it perhaps looks a little prettier but other than that it is pretty much a scene by scene remake of the original. Had I been completely unaware of the original Cabin Fever then I would have thought this was a top notch horror but I have seen the original which makes this a pretty pointless remake.
